The project featuring young artists from Moscow and Tyumen considers a special relationship of today’s individual with the hybrid space of material and virtual worlds. The historical center of Tyumen’s intellectual history, a place where information is physically stored, becomes a space where artists create projects about multi-layered reality of today, where material and virtual objects mingle, and where it is hard to tell between digital and physical spaces.
Exhibition: Library and Museum Complex of the Tyumen State University
Video screening: Kontora Parokhodstva
Public Program: The Slovtsov Museum, Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of Advanced Studies, Tyumen State University
As part of the special project Creating New Layer, Katerina Sokolovskaya created a public art installation in Tobolsk. Stacking up against the historical context, this artwork offers to set sights on the body in everyday life that takes place in physical and virtual space. A series of sculptures with tactually diverse surfaces allows interacting with them by touching, sitting, sliding, etc., which brings movement to the fore and offers new possibilities for the body to exist in an urban environment.
The Invisible Touch installation: The Tobolsk Interdistrict Vet Center, 4 September – 31 October
This project is supported by the Sfera Foundation.
